Bristol Airport suspended all flights on Friday evening after a defect was found on its runway, and the closure has been extended into Saturday morning. The airport says the runway will remain shut until 08:00 while the affected section is inspected and repaired.

Departures scheduled between 06:00 and 08:00 have been moved to after 08:00, and a number of inbound flights were diverted to other airports overnight. Knock-on delays are likely through Saturday morning while aircraft and crews are back in position.

Passengers due to fly should check their flight directly with their airline before travelling to the airport, and allow extra time. Live flight information is on the airport's official departures page, linked in the footer.

This is a developing story and we will update it as the airport confirms more.
