Drop and Go: the paid option
There's no free kerbside drop-off at the Bristol Airport terminal. The Drop and Go zone is the closest paid alternative, a short walk from the terminal doors, with a tariff that rose on 5 January 2026:

Drop and Go is designed for a quick set-down or pick-up, not a wait. If a flight is delayed and a pick-up runs long, the charge climbs fast — even 40 to 60 minutes costs £30.
The free alternative: the Waiting Zone
The Waiting Zone at the Car Rental Centre is free for up to 1 hour, with a courtesy shuttle bus to and from the terminal roughly every 15 minutes. The trade-off is that a lift and their passenger meet via a short bus ride rather than at the kerb. For a driver collecting someone whose exact landing and clearing time is uncertain, waiting here for free and then shuttling over once the passenger has cleared arrivals is the money-saving choice over Drop and Go.
Taxi: no drop-off fee, but a full fare
A taxi doesn't carry a drop-off charge the way a private car does — the fare itself covers getting you to or from the terminal. A trip to or from Bristol city centre typically costs £35 to £55 off-peak on the official rank, or from £51 with a pre-booked fixed-price operator such as Tick Taxi. So which is cheaper?
It depends on who's paying and for what:
- A friend or family member dropping you off, quick set-down: Drop and Go from £8.50 is cheap enough for a genuinely quick goodbye, but the price climbs fast if you're saying a long one.
- Someone collecting you and unsure of your landing time: the free Waiting Zone almost always beats Drop and Go, since even an hour's uncertainty costs nothing there against up to £30-£60 in the paid zone.
- Travelling alone or as a couple with no one to drop you off: a taxi at £35-£55 is a fixed, known cost, and often works out similar per head to two Drop and Go trips (one each way) plus fuel.
- A group of three or more: a taxi or pre-booked transfer usually beats separate car trips or coach fares once you split the fare across the group.

If you're collecting someone and their flight is delayed, head to the free Waiting Zone rather than starting the clock in Drop and Go. You can wait there at no cost and use the shuttle once your passenger has cleared arrivals, avoiding the £30-£60 charge a long wait would rack up in the paid zone.
